TESOL-Ukraine and the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine have been running a number of ELT projects over several years aimed at providing continuous professional development and sustaining an ELT professional network in Ukraine. The goal of this Summer Institute is to consolidate experience and resources in using IT-technologies in ELT &ELL process, motivate teachers of high and higher schools in Ukraine to implement IT-technologies on permanent basis, disseminate active learning and teaching methods among English language teachers, organize a working group of English teachers to participate in Internet project "Enforce English On-line”.



PROGRAM DESCRIPTION



The Institute is for teachers of  secondary schools and universities,TESOL-Ukraine members[1]. The program will suggest the following subthemes:



    Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)

    Developing Integrated Skills through Internet

    Creating Web-content Collaboratively

    Encouraging English Learning through the WWW

    Successful On-line Activities and Projects

    Building Teaching Skills Through the Interactive Web

    Considerations for Writing Assessment

CRYSTAL BOCK THIESSEN is a 2006 graduate from the University of Central Missouri with a Masters in TESL (previously earning Bachelor’s degrees in both photography and Spanish).  She worked at UCM from 2006 until 2008 as an instructor in both the photography department and with the Intensive English Program.  From August 2008 until August 2011, she was a high school English teacher at Sapporo Intercultural and Technological High School on the northern island of Hokkaido in Japan.  While there, she helped develop an English library and graded reading program, as well as to further promote and refine the English debate course.  In addition, she also has maintained her own wedding, portrait, and travel photography business.  Currently, she is teaching EFL at Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University in Lugansk, as well as helping with the Access America Micro scholarship Program Ukraine.
