= This is Acanthoscelides obtectus Beans in your House! Beans (Acanthoscelides obtectus) is a beetle from the family of grain, a pest of leguminous crops - mainly beans and beans. The larvae feed on the seeds of legumes - it damages mainly beans, less often chickpeas, china, peas, lentils, horse beans and soy.

Reproduction occurs in the field and storage at a temperature of 13-31 ° C. In laying an average of 45 eggs. The female lays them in groups in cracks of dried beans, on seeds, between seeds and so on. The larvae creep freely for 4 days, and then bite into seeds, where they develop until metamorphosis. At different temperatures, the development cycle of the bean grains lasts from 34 to 60 days. In the south, this beetle has 3-4 generations per year.

Control measures: chemical treatment of crops during the ripening of beans, post-harvest plowing, decontamination of warehouses, treatment of beans with pesticides, cooling and freezing of infected beans in the refrigerator or frost, or heating the seeds to 48 ° C for 20 minutes.
